  There are different ways to connect the three branches of the electrical network. However, this system is mostly found in the market as a star or a delta. A delta connection consists of three branches that are connected in a closed loop, which makes it look like a delta symbol Δ, hence the name delta connection

In a star connection, these three branches are connected to a common point in the form of a Y shape. Although these star and delta connections can easily be switched from one to another. Transformation from delta to star or from star to delta is inevitable.

In Star to Delta Conversion, the star connected load is transformed into delta connection.
The following Formula for transformation of Star to Delta as follows:

Therefore, if ZA, ZB and ZC are known, you can convert a star connection to a delta connection by knowing their values and putting them in the equations above.

In Delta to Star Conversion, the delta connected load is transformed into star connection.
The following Formula for transformation of Delta to Star as follows:

By putting the values of Z1, Z2 and Z3 in the above equations, the delta connection can be converted into a star connection if the values of Z1, Z2 and Z3 are known.

All calculations are done in Polar and Rectangular form because Impedance (Z) is a vector quantity.
